Monthly Dinner Club

This is a blogspot which will serve as a Restaurant Review for our Monthly Dinner Club. We are based in Cape Town and have visited restaurants since January 2001. Each month, one of the Organisers selects a new restaurant with the only rule being that it is not allowed to be a venue that the Monthly Dinner Club or one of the Organisers have frequented before.

Reviews:

- minced prawn starter was tasty. Waiter was Shawn & started off well but forgot to ask me for my order. When he brought the food, he didn't know who ordered what and got the rice & noodles order wrong; so he didn't end off too well. I had steamed fish for main. Was expecting a piece of fish but got 'pieces' in a stir fry style dish in foil. Fish not so good. Asked for water and got a warm glass of water. Nice decor. Waiting for dessert to comment further.

- Will leave page open for Lucy to comment on pudding ...

- Food was good and tasty!! (Did you eat at the same place as Lucy?)

- Ok, me again - he forgot to take my dessert order!! F#@k it!!

- My food was very tasty. Waiter was good with the cocktails but not so great with water & food.
- My sweet 'n sour chicken was very tasty but nothing special. Good wine - Cab (Ridgeback). Decor very good.

- Sounds like the noisy tables food wasn't so good but the quieter table's food was excellent! Omlette was yummy & curry was f#@king nice.

- The food was brilliant (the other table is a miserable bunch!!) - we had 'sia rong hai' - sirloin with coriander & chilli & curry. Nice atmosphere and decor.

- Soup good, curry - hot & great.

- My food was stunning! Can recommend the phad kao pod orn - with the phad mee (fried egg noodles). Only problem was the parking - very limited.

- For the record, the quiet table / " miserable bunch" was: Etienne, Janine, Linda, Shawn, Lucy, Vannessa, Gathry, Nadine, Louise

- As for this patron at the miserable / quiet table, I had really great food. Sweet 'n sour pork with noodles was divine and Vannessa's egg fried rice was super. And I got a full cup of coffee!!!! (It's all about soul!)

- For the record, the other table on the "dark side":-) was Carol, Anthony, Chris, Fiona, Linda, Eddie ... oh and Gathry moved over for dessert so not sure where he fits in:-)
