Monthly Dinner Club

This is a blogspot which will serve as a Restaurant Review for our Monthly Dinner Club. We are based in Cape Town and have visited restaurants since January 2001. Each month, one of the Organisers selects a new restaurant with the only rule being that it is not allowed to be a venue that the Monthly Dinner Club or one of the Organisers have frequented before.

Within six months of opening, Jardine was included in two authoritative South African Top 10 lists, while George was celebrated as the Johnny Walker Chef of the Year for 2006 in November. More accolades followed in 2007, including a third place, Africa and Middle East region of the San Pellegrino World Top 50 Restaurant List and also being included in the Conde Naste Worldwide Hot Tables list in May. In October 2007 it was the only restaurant from Cape Town included in dine magazine's SA Top 10 list - smart casual dining, for 2008. George prefers not to typecast or label his style of cooking, but admits that it is founded upon contemporary European techniques and South Africa's finest seasonal produce. His cuisine is complemented by a small and ever evolving selection of boutique South African wine estates handpicked by George and Wilhelm

Reviews:

- It was good. Food very tasty and petite portions - had to order pudding.

- French cuisine, springbok was delicious but not enough! Eat before you come. Ask for the tables upstairs as that's the posh end.

- Food was good. Creme Brule
e the best I've ever tasted but restaurant way too pretentious for my liking.

- Duck was fantastic. Felt a bit like a pleb stuck in a corner - got the pity look from other patrons going upstairs. R40 for 125ml red wine is a bit excessive.

- Food good & tasty but small portions. Wine - my record - R40 for 150ml Merlot! No way!

- Spent the night listening to wife discuss the price of the wine. Meal was nice. Could have been more tatsy though. Nice Company. Wayne

- Food was good but wine was over priced - Gathry

- They separated "me" from my mates - I don't like that!!! "Camera shy!"

- Waitress not very
approachable.

- Food very tasty. Nice size portions if you are on diet. Wine a bit pricey.

- Food delicious! Was enough for me! Need some aircon in here!

- Oysters tasted nice - hopefully the after effects are good as well. Food very rich but good.
