Monthly Dinner Club

This is a blogspot which will serve as a Restaurant Review for our Monthly Dinner Club. We are based in Cape Town and have visited restaurants since January 2001. Each month, one of the Organisers selects a new restaurant with the only rule being that it is not allowed to be a venue that the Monthly Dinner Club or one of the Organisers have frequented before.

Thanks Pierre!

Very nice food (eisbein), but mustard not English, ha ha.  Occasional bad smell…..don’t know what that is…

Food was good but not great.  Jungle gym very dirty (not the play park, that was fine).  Service was good.  Not enough sauerkraut with the eisbein.

Buffet had the usual “Sunday food” – good and tasty.  The other people’s food came quite quickly – impressive.

Enjoyed the eisbein.  Waiter tried his best, but restaurant should not be open if they are not prepared after a big Saturday festival.

Eisbein was delish – not enough sauerkraut.  Service could have been better.  All drinks in the bar were not cold!  Nice company and setting.

Started off my meal with a dessert which was great – may do that in the future!  Eisbein was too fatty at first but waiter changed it for a less fatty one – it was ok.  Great company and setting.

Food was ok, wine was ok, company was good.  Thanks for organizing an enjoyable outing.

Buffet was good.  Lots of variety.  Not that much in the dessert section though.

Chicken Cordon Bleu very rich.  Veg not cooked.  Eisbein very good.

Food excellent, well prepared and well presented.  Initial service at bar and table a bit chaotic, perhaps due to the fact that the farm had a function for 2500 pax last night.  Consequently the staff were all tired and therefore slow.  We had the biltong, blue cheese and fig salad to start.  Lamb shank and chicken cordon bleu for mains – all delicious!

Lekker food and good company.

Royally stuffed.

Was initially very annoyed that our table was not set up, even though all arrangements had been done through events co-ordinator.  She showed no apology, mentioning that we were early and tables were about to be set up - we were 5 mins early and members of the dinner club were asked to assist in putting the tables together.  She needs some people skills.  However……….our waiter Pierre was fabulous and did his absolute best to appease us all.  We ate from the buffet, which I felt lacked in presentation, but the food was hearty.
