Monthly Dinner Club

This is a blogspot which will serve as a Restaurant Review for our Monthly Dinner Club. We are based in Cape Town and have visited restaurants since January 2001. Each month, one of the Organisers selects a new restaurant with the only rule being that it is not allowed to be a venue that the Monthly Dinner Club or one of the Organisers have frequented before.

Comments:

- Hangover Boerie was great, loved the caramelised pineapple.

- Arrive early as parking is a problem in this area!

- Bustling, vibey spot. Nice & cool with the open doors. Service super fast. Worthwhile to have more than 15 people to book a table. Pure sophistication boerie roll was lovely! Great concept.

- Veggie vibe was very tasty but could do with a little more sauce. Overall vibe is great!!

- Coming from Gauteng where you find boeries on every pub corner, this is fresh and something different, really worth it!

- Please add a meaty roll onto your menu, more meat, less bun.

- Love the decor, good service and good coffee!

- Good vibe and nice concept of traditional boerie roll. Decor is great with friendly service.

- Hangover boerie was really good. Had to remove from the roll half way through & just finish the wors and sauce!

- Enjoyed a hangover for the first time ever: usually they just suck.

- First time we have been to monthly dinner and paid R200 for the 2 of us, great value for money!

- We started off in the Whiskey bar with some delicious cocktails. Mine was a winner! I ordered the Spring Break that had elderflower syrup and ginger ale.

- Morae Campher took us on a tour of the restaurant – superb!

Duck Confit was good but not the best duck I have had.

Veggie Meal (butternut) was very, very good. Don Pedro not as good as Barbosa’s, but still good. Love the restaurant, very stylish and ‘chic’.

Beef carpaccio was superb and so was the martini. Clam spaghetti with a touch of chilli tried to burn my tonsils outJ Chocolate fondant was good.

Spring rolls really nice and spicy. Meat nice and tender & coffee really good.

- Lovely venue and staff very friendly & entertaining. Spicy calamari starter and rump for mains – excellent. Definitely worth a visit.

Our waiter, Chris, had a ‘killer’ sense of humour – brilliant! My vanilla soufflé dessert was not as I expected it to be but it was yummy!!
