Monthly Dinner Club

This is a blogspot which will serve as a Restaurant Review for our Monthly Dinner Club. We are based in Cape Town and have visited restaurants since January 2001. Each month, one of the Organisers selects a new restaurant with the only rule being that it is not allowed to be a venue that the Monthly Dinner Club or one of the Organisers have frequented before.

Comments:

- Nice atmosphere. Shame they had run out of springbok & prime rib @ only 9pm! Add the wine by the glass! Again, out of it :-(

- Roast lamb dish was very disappointing - lots of lamb but not tender, very tough - I needed a steak knife to cut through it - also fatty, and seasonal vegetables that was supposed to be part of the dish was a few pieces of red and green pepper. Did not enjoy this dish!

- No Prime Rib :-( Rump bland. Might be a nice touch to have some vegetables that come with the main course. Chips cold!!

- Flavoursome chicken, but way too many bones - beautiful venue thou.

- Niel's chicken was underage - felt like a paedophile eating something that small :-(

- Lamb Tagine was ok, fairly soft but not great. Lovely atmosphere. House salad very tasty. Lamb dish chewy and cold, fatty. Great atmosphere, incredible music.

- Recommend oxtail dish. Crayfish salad well worth the long wait but quite pricey!!!

- Calamari and ostrich dishes were very delicious.

- Rock hard moyo moja dessert, need steak knife for dessert.

- Butternut cheesecake disappointing - nothing special. Where is the caramelized pumpkin!

** Blogger's Note - this is the 1st place in a long time where we have had several people not happy with their meal, service & atmosphere was good but perhaps a venue to enjoy some cocktails / drinks and eat elsewhere rather? **
